If you've decided that your child needs some extra support, it is my strongly-held belief that they will make the best progress in the familiar and comforting environment of their own home, rather than at an unfamiliar tuition centre. This is especially the case for Foundation Stage or KS1 pupils who will gain extra reassurance from the fact that a parent is just in the adjoining room. Plus, it will be far more beneficial for your child to have the one to one attention of a teacher rather than to be working as part of a group of children all of differing needs who all share the one tutor. This is very similar to how they will be working at school, whereas if you book a Gold Star tutor, they will be focussed solely on your child's needs for the hour's lesson, helping them to make the best possible progress. Plus, Gold Star is not part of any tuition franchise as these can often just be focused on profit, whereas we can offer the personal touch. We respond to emails and Facebook messages the same day and will send a follow-up email after the pupil’s first session to obtain feedback about the tutor.

You may be looking to prepare your child for an imminent exam such as SATs or GCSEs or just to boost their confidence. At Gold Star, we never ask for any fees upfront, nor are you tied into a contract, plus we check your tutor’s references before they can begin tutoring.

Fees and Subjects

Rates correct as of March ‘24
Foundation stage - £15 per half hour session
Key Stage 1 or 2 phonics/Literacy/Numeracy tuition - £30 per hour

Key stage 3/GCSE/11+ Tuition - £35 per hour

A Level tuition - £45 per hour - only certain subjects available - please email for details. (A higher hourly rate will apply if tutor is particularly experienced or an examiner)
