For Tutors

If you're interested in offering one-to-one tuition in the Lancashire/Sefton area, then Gold Star Tutors can help. We are building up a comprehensive database of qualified primary and secondary teachers who are currently looking for tuition work in the above areas. To reach out to potential pupils who might benefit from your services, all you have to do is register with us and we shall do the rest. By working just one extra hour a week, you can supplement your income and feel like you're making a real difference to a child's education.
You must be available on at least two weeknights for 1hr between 4-7pm.
We welcome all qualified teachers across Lancs/Sefton to register with Gold Star for free, and there's no obligation for you to accept any tutoring that is offered. You can specify the age range you'd like to tutor, the areas you'd be willing to travel to and the slots you have free to deliver a lesson. We will then advertise in your area in order to secure your first client. Delivering tuition online is also a possibility for some pupils, but primarily, Gold Star tutors offer tuition at the pupil’s home.

Rates of pay

Inclusive of Gold Star's £5 per hour commission, rates when tutoring at the pupil’s home (or online) per hour are £30 for KS1/2, £35 for KS3/GCSE/11+ and £45 for A-level. A slightly higher hourly rate is a possibility for A level if you’re a particularly experienced teacher or head of your subject or an examiner for instance.

How to register with us

Simply complete the contact us form (or phone/email) and we will contact you to email the info sheet and the registration form. You will need to be a qualified teacher preferably with some recent classroom experience, although this isn’t essential. Retired teachers are also encouraged to apply as your wealth of experience will be easily transferred to the home tuition environment, plus NQTs are welcome too.

We will contact the referees you provide, and subject to those being positive, you’ll be added to the register. You will also need to send a copy of your enhanced DBS form. Successful applicants will be informed as soon as their registration has been confirmed, then Gold Star will get back in touch with you once a potential pupil becomes available.
